The Minorite Monastery in Oberwesel
One of the jewels of medieval Oberwesel is an ensemble consisting of the ruined
church, monastery garden and sacristy of the former Franciscan Minorite monastery.
The sacristy is especially worth seeing and its unusual form is of particular
architectural value. During comprehensive reconstruction work carried out in 2006/07
it was restored to its original 15th century condition.
Today, both monastery garden and sacristy are privately owned, but we can offer
you exclusive access to this enchanted place. Book one of our special
visitor packages and be transported to the world of the medieval mendicant
(begging) orders.
A champagne reception in the lush, well-tended monastery garden could be the stylish
prelude to your Function in the Kulturhaus. Couples choosing
to hold their wedding reception here will also have use of the garden as the perfect
setting for wedding photos.
